ARTS SOCIETY - ANNUAL EXHIBITION & DEMOS

We are thrilled to include The Bridgnorth & District Arts Society Annual Exhibition as part of the Bridgnorth Music & Arts festival once again. This exhibition is a stunning showcase of original art and this year will include a response to the theme of ‘Music’ as part of the exhibition.

Located in the stunning surroundings of St Leonard’s Church, a work of art in itself, this exhibition is a must-see for all out festival visitors! Including original works in 2d & 3D as well as prints and cards.

In addition, the arts society will be hosting demonstrations over the festival weekend as well as having live music events included in the exhibition.

ROS WOOLNER

Ros lives and works in Wolverhampton & is a member of Bilston Writers.

When she’s not working, Ros can usually be found in her garden, which appears in many of her poems, including 'Pruning the Laurel', which won the Guernsey International Poetry Competition in 2021, and ‘To Every Thing There is a Season’, which came first in the Chiltern Arts Festival poetry competition in 2023.

Ros was shortlisted for the Women Poets’ Prize, run by the Rebecca Swift Foundation, in 2022. Her pamphlet On the Wing and full collection Earth Walker are both published by Offa's Press.

DEREK DOHRON

Derek has been active on the spoken word circuit since 2017, performing at prestigious events in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud, Ledbury, Swindon and Worcester.

He currently works as a bus driver in the leafy market town of Ross on Wye, and finds much inspiration for his work in his daily interactions with the great British public,

His three poetry collections, through Gloucester publishers Black Eyes Publishing UK, are available from your vendor of choice.

Derek's poetry style mirrors his driving technique: highly expressive, and liable to veer off in odd directions.

Travel with him by all means, but make sure you've told a responsible adult where you've gone.

GEORGE STANWORTH

George is a Shropshire poet who has self-published a number of poetry books. He has had poems printed in The Shropshire Star and has been been published in specialist poetry magazines including  'Sarasvati', 'Dreich' and 'The Haiku Journal’. George was a finalist in the Lyrics Only section of the UK Songwriting contest and his poems have been read on Radio Wales.
